Cat Power returns with her second album of cover songs, this one a tribute to the great vocalists who have influenced her over the years. The album comes in two versions: a. Deluxe silver-foil gatefold cover (on both LP and CD) with bonus disc containing extra tracks b. Regular jewelcase version (CD only) Dudes and betties, unfortunately the LP will not come with the free mp3 coupons that you have come to expect and love. For 'The Greatest' (not a greatest hits, but the brand-new studio album), Marshall returned to Memphis, pursuing this time the slinky Hi Records sound of the 70s, famed for its sensuous feel and beguiling rhythms. She got Al Green’s guitarist and songwriting partner Mabon "Teenie" Hodges to play guitar on the whole album. This version of the Greatest contains a bonus track not included in later pressings. DVD + CD DVD: A nearly two-hour film of Cat Power performing solo outdoors in the countryside amidst the ambient sounds of nature. Filmed in a single grainy long shot, in the tradition of Warhol and Wiseman. Plus 3 short nature films set to Cat Power's music. CD: One gorgeous unreleased 18-minute song saga, "Willie Deadwilder", from the 'You Are Free' sessions. BOTH: in an elaborate fold-out package with 64-page book. Created, packaged and directed by experimental filmmaker and visual artist Mark Borthwick. All-region NTSC if you order from the Matador Store.
