On

The
DC power trio are about to engage in their heaviest spell of activity
with the previously announced Western US tour dates this month,
followed by October clubs dates in Europe -- with a UK tour supporting
Super Furry Animals right after that. Dead Meadow's "Let's Jump
In" can be heard alongside unreleased tracks by Wire, Burning Brides,
The Icarus Line and Weezer on the upcoming Buddyhead compilation,
'Gimmie Skelter'. See tours.

'Shivering
King.." just out, new tour about to begin...
Following a live broadcast on WNYU and a brief spate of London gigs
---resulting in gadzooks-style coverage from Kerrang, NME, Bang
and other magazines we're trying to stay out of fights with, Dead
Meadow are refocusing their attentions on the homeland with a US
tour kicking next week at NY's Mercury Lounge playing with Bardo
Pond (dates below). 'Shivering King and Others' is available now
on CD and double LP and ranks as the most hypnotic listening experience
of 2003.
06/10/03 Special
MP3 series: Starting on June 10, and continuing on the 10th of every
month, we will be uploading an unreleased Dead Meadow MP3. See Dead
Meadow's music page for details.

Following
some well received shows supporting Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks,
Dead Meadow are heading to London for gigs on May 27 (The Underworld)
and May 29 (The Metro) as the buzz builds for the 2XLP/1XCD release
of 'Shivering King and Others'. An MP3 of "Good Moanin'" is available
now from our action-packed audio/video
section.
04/14/03 Austin
SXSW
After
a particularly sick sojurn to Austin, TX, minds were expanded, blown
and then expanded again during Dead Meadow's SXSW gigs. The only
power trio are preparing for a European promo trip in advance of
the June release for 'Shivering King and Others". Dead Meadow will
be playing London's Metro on Saturday, May 12, with more events
to be announced shortly.

a
correction:
Just to make sure, the new album is called 'Shivering King and Others'.
The person who got the title wrong last time has donated all of
his shares in Matador Records, Inc. to Covenant House and Father
Bruce Ritter (who was very funny in "Three's Company" all those
years ago). This joke would've made the "We're Sorry" campaign had
it be thought of in time. Always good for pt. II, however.
Also, we would like to stress that Dead Meadow are a Washington
DC band. Not Virginia, Washington DC. In the rich cultural history
of Wes Unseld, White Boy, Troublefunk, No Trend, Black Market Baby,
the Urban Verbs and Egoslavia. WASHINGTON DC!!!

The album is done
I'm shuddering with anticipation just typing these words.
Or maybe it's the food poisoning. Either way, the new Dead
Meadow album, their fourth and first for Matador, is due June
8 and it's called 'Shivering King and Others'. Said album
will redefine "heavy" in ways Heavy D or William "Refrigerator"
Perry never envisioned (though they were each pretty visionary
in their respective fields). The Only Power Trio on Earth
(with all due respect to Belle & Sebastian --- who are divisible
by three if they add or subtract members), Dead Meadow's new
record fulfils the promise made by the DC band's explosive
live shows and then some. |

Redundant Signing Notice:
Dead Meadow - on board
Matador Records is pleased to announce the signing of the Washington
DC trio Dead Meadow
to a worldwide deal. The band, made up of Jason Simon (guitar/vocals),
Steven Kille (bass), and Stephen McCarty (drums), create heavy
distorted psychedelia and electric sludge blues with expansive
instrumental passages. They're pretty devastating by any standards
we can think of. Dead Meadow have released two albums for Joe
Lally's Tolotta label and have toured throughout this year with
Guided by Voices, Super Furry Animals, The Brian Jonestown Massacre
and The Warlocks; they've recorded a John Peel Session as well.
Dead Meadow just completed their most recent block of US touring
and will tour Europe late this autumn before recording their
new album, due in early 2003. |

Dead Meadow Signs to Matador
Washington
DC's Dead Meadow have officially joined the ranks of Matador Records.
The group, made up of Jason Simon (Guitar/Vocals) Steven Kille (Bass)
and Stephen McCarty (Drums) create heavy distorted psychedelia and
electric sludge blues that doesn't shy away from expansive instrumental
sections. With two albums for the Tolotta label (a label run by
Joe Lally of Fugazi), the band has been touring nonstop this year
with such groups as Guided by Voices, Super Furry Animals, The Brian
Jonestown Massacre and The Warlocks. They've completed a John Peel
Session as well.
On their signing, Kille proclaimed, "It's a great fit -- like
Dead Meadow, Matador Records are a fan of great albums and not catchy
singles, they allow us the creative freedom to develop our sound
and grow as artists. Look at the diversity and quality of their
roster and you know these guys truly love music." The band's
current plans include continuing their North
American tour through the end of summer and then entering the
studio to start recording a new album, due early next year. For
more info, check out their website.
