Apology Corner

Here we go again. A recent Matador label advertisement mentioned labels like Alias, Audible Hiss, etc. as part of some screwy piece of satire about how other labels want you to think they're small but-we're-bigger-than-the-Hindenburg etc.

Well, we fucked up. Problem is, we've got nothing against Audible Hiss, a very fine NYC label run by our good friend, Ned Hayden. We thought it was funny 'cause w/ quality records by the likes of Harry Pussy, Arthur Doyle, Donald Miller, To Live & Shave In LA, etc. what could Audible Hiss possibly have in common with a bunch of college-rock "indies" whose releases clog the used bins?

Just 'cause not everyone got the joke doesn't mean it wasn't funny. Regardless, we apologize to Ned Hayden because a) we truly respect what he's doing, and b) we really wish he'd sell us some records again.

  • Our upcoming ad campaign "Gambling & Alcoholism at Other Labels" has been cancelled.

  • Apologies to Karen Edlitz who is not mentioned anywhere else in this issue. Look, I've been out of town lately, I don't really know what's been happening.
