Reasons why catpower sucks dog!
Just a few to get us started.
1/ she is a dodgy pyscho hose beast on stage 2/ can't seem to play her songs from beginning to end 3/ doesn't seem to know what a chord on the piano is (thanks for that one Furey!) 4/ is a rip off! To quote Ben Folds "Give me my money back, you bitch!" anyone else have any suggestions?

If only she HAD sucked dog ... that may have been a little more entertaining on the night (Sydney GIG, Metro, Sept 6th).
I just want to say that I do really enjoy Cat Power's music. Her cds are great. Perhaps this is what she should stick to. Or she could hire musicians to tour and play covers of her songs, or get really post modern and hire musicians only to tour her Covers Album ... how very ... very. No - it was a joke. The gig. And her behaviour. She is quite lucky that the venue doesn't have chairs any more. They would have been ripped and thrown at her head (which would at least have silenced the many voices that seemed to be shouting at her). I must applaud the musicians that held the act together - the violinist was particularly good. I know that live gigs are a risk. Just like live acts in any artform. But this was way beyond just a bad night. This was completely unprofessional. It was like being at a party when people are really drunk and there's always one person who starts to sing or play the spare guitar or sit at the piano and they just make what they think is music. The worst part of the night was when they lifted the lights on the crowd and Ms marshall stood in the wings just looking at us all and she was laughing. Laughing! Perhaps she was right to laugh. There was definitely something of the Emperor's New Music at play. |

While Chan Marshall is ultimately responsible for her own actions and consistently dismal performances, it is her management and the promoter who should be held to account for knowingly pushing an devastatingly poor performer.
It doesn't rock. |

Mhmm. You've got too much time to waste, mrbolano/daggygirl/clatterbox/molly55. Besides that, you seem like an asshole. Unless you are Chan--in which case, well ... stop it.

I may be an asshole but at least I don't charge people money to watch me be one.
Can't you understand that these are people who love music, and loved cat Power's music and are bitterly dissappointed that she ripped them off? Is the lesson learnt here to expect the worst of everything? Even the people we admire? I'm not whinging because I'm an asshole (well, maybe a little bit), I'm whinging because I wanted to see a show that in some respect echoed the beauty of the music on her albums. I was prepared for her legendary tears and strangeness but I though I'd at least see her get through three of four songs with fucking them up! She sang two lines of Good Woman and then stopped for no apparent reasons. The world is full of enough crap without our heroes adding to it! For god sake, all she had to do was sing Salty Dog from beginning to end and I would have been happy. God damn her!
