We’re very sorry to everyone about how frustrating this way today, and apologize for redoing it but at this point it’s the only fair way to get the records out.

I have a severe case of Reatard-Rage as I ordered and paid for the record twice, the second time taking 28 minutes because the website slowed down to a crawling-pace and just stopped working so much and now I’m going to have to try and I order a third time and I already know there’s a good chance I won’t get the record if there’s that many people ordering.
I know everyone that ordered the record will be pretty annoyed and it’s fair-enough to start again but man-o-man this is annoying.
Before you even sold the first one I already knew this was going to happen…you told us.
Loads of these turn-up on ebay, I wish there some sort of way to sell them to people that actually want the records.
I, like many members of the Cult of Reatard, want to break something but I’ll be there again today.

Why not just make the edition size large enough to meet demand?
July 15th, 2008 at 3:39 pm
This is a bunch of shit. I’m quite certain your website was not updated sufficiently as I had to wait to get the page for the 7 inch up and then had to wait so long for the checkout pages to load that by the time I placed my order, your damn websited said that it was no longer available. I’m really disappointed in a system that works that poorly. You guys have really shit in your shoes on this one.

I ordered it twice, on, y’know, the day that was announced, but couldn’t make it through in time today.
TOTALLY FAIR!

i know that if i can leave the pouty butt-hurtedness of not getting the record behind me that i am going to LOVE reading these comments.

“Why not just make the edition size large enough to meet demand?”
i believe it was the artist who set the edition size. i’m sure if it were up to the label they would press as many as they could sell.

ordered yesterday but wasn’t able to today cause i was meeting with a student’s parent. i’m gonna give her daughter a detention to make her pay!
not gonna complain – just curious why you would limit the number of copies available for preorder. seems like it would make more sense to me to sell as many as you can directly through the site for a week or so (put preorders up 2 weeks before the street date) and then close preorders after one week and sell whatever is left to stores. this would allow way more folks who really just want a copy for themselves to get a copy, and prevent folks from hording copies by draining stores to sell on ebay for inflated prices. that’s the only thing that bugs me about these releases – not even the messed up ordering – the prospectors who make real fans miss out on getting a copy or pay tons on ebay. still really excited about the releases and hope to grab one next tuesday.

For 7″ number 5, Matador could have a special pre-order… buyers must upload a photo of themselves holding the first four records. They could take the first 50 or 100 legitimate photos submitted on Monday and then have the normal pre-order the following day.
Otherwise, it’s possible that *no one* will end up with a complete set without turning to eBay. Heh.
I won’t be upset if I don’t get all 6, but I’ll jump through any loops or walls of flame to try. So far, I have all 4 (3 & one on its way obviously), and I’m curiously waiting to see how this unfolds. It’s fun. And it’s quite interesting.

As many of you are aware, the preorder process for Jay Reatard 7″ #4 turned into a nightmare for you and for us. First, on Monday, the preorder accidentally went live at 1:30 PM, 90 minutes earlier than was announced. Early orders poured in, and since this seemed unfair to those who were waiting until 3:00 PM to order, we canceled those orders and started the process again at 3. However, due to a rule at our credit-card processing company that we had never had reason to encounter before, anyone who ordered for a second time on the same card got a duplicate/fraud message, and were not allowed to complete the order. In addition, the rush of orders at 3 was so intense that the server slowed down to a crawl, and many people were not able to complete their orders at all.
In light of all this we decided to redo the order at 3 PM on Tuesday. We canceled all orders for a second time, got with our credit card processing company to shorten the timeout period for duplicate orders, and got with our ISP to prepare for an onslaught of traffic at 3.
However we were not prepared for the amount of traffic we did get yesterday – over 10,000 unique visitors at 3 PM, and the server once again slowed to a crawl or worse, leaving many people out in the cold, disgusted, and fed up with Matador – understandably. (For comparison’s sake, the entire Matador website usually gets 8,000 unique visitors per day.) We’re still not clear whether the publicity resulting from the previous two preorders led to the increase in visitors, or whether this was some kind of denial of service attack from a disgruntled customer.
In any event, we have collated orders from everyone who ordered successfully the first OR second time with those who ordered successfully the third time, and we are filling orders for everyone who got a successful order confirmation from us, whether it was cancelled or not.
We’d lke to offer apologies for all the drama and hassle, but we’ve been apologizing non-stop and that’s not what you guys want – you want an efficient order process, and that’s what we pledge to offer in the future. It’s going to be even harder to buy singles #5 and #6 – that’s the whole point of this exercise after all – but it won’t be due to technical problems. We’ll have security, traffic, credit card processing and everything else sorted out and tested well in advance of the remaining 7″ preorders, and it will work the way it’s supposed to. I think that’s all we can say at this time.

crybabies,all of you…
What would you all have have done if there was no pre-order available?
That’s right. You would have gotten off your lazy asses and scoured records stores until you found one. I have found two of the previous 3 releases in stores, not through pre-order.

“You would have gotten off your lazy asses and scoured records stores until you found one. I have found two of the previous 3 releases in stores, not through pre-order.”
Second sentence answers the first.
If we couldn’t pre-order we’d order it when it was released or even gone down to the shops if there was any hope in hell that it’d actually turn up.
But, you got the first two because there was more copies of those two, right? That’s the game we’re all playing here.
If you waltz down to your local shop and pick-up the sixth 7″ then I will take it all back but it’s not happening. Exactly how many copies will there be of that? 100 or less? what are the figures here?
