Boring

Summer cooking is less interesting to write about… no complicated sauces and multiple ingredients or long roasting. The emphasis is purely on the freshest seasonal ingredients. Last night I made pasta by throwing together some very tasty mixed heirloom tomatoes from Grand Central Market (usually unreliable for produce) with some Italian tuna and chopped fennel, braised in olive oil and a tiny bit of garlic. That was it, with some fresh basil and mint torn and thrown on top.

sliced heirloom tomatoes, balsamic, and salt. not fancy, but sure tastes good.
sardinian white, btw.

Oh, I forgot. I drank a bottle of one of those Astor wines that are knocked down for having ugly labels! Total impulse buy. Argiolas Costrera Isola Dei Nuraghi 2006. The grape is cannonau, tastes somewhere between grenache and merlot. 13.5%, I quite liked it, though it wasn’t a wine I’d have chosen for this meal.
