Jay Reatard feels your (vinyl) pain
October 9th, 2008 at 6:09 pm by Todd NetterSo Tuesday was the special day. The day everyone was finally able to get their hands on Jay Reatard’s Matador Singles ‘08. As expected many of you are looking for this on vinyl. Unfortunately we are experiencing some production problems but are expecting to have more LPs in stores shortly. Jay, being a man of and for the people, asked that we post a short note from him about this issue:
Hey guys so the Matador Singles 08 comp is finally out and available on Cd/Lp in stores world wide this week ! Only problem is that since everyone and their mom are buying lp’s nowadays the pressing plant is running a bit behind with the majority of the Lp’s but should have them done soon. Just wanted to clarify that this is NOT a limited edtion Lp and should be ready for one or all to buy really soon. thanks for everyone’s patience.
Love,
Jay Reatard

As a long time supporter of vinyl, especially of the Matador variety, I appreciate the simple fact that Matador has the ability and good sense to alert customers to delays at pressing plants. This is not a new happenstance and should not come as a surprise to newer or older vinyl enthusiasts.
Thanks, Matador, for the nearly 20 year commitment to vinyl. I am happy to see this vinyl renaissance and hope it continues beyond just the “fad” stage. Fads fade, but I seriously doubt Matador will ever stray from the format that matters most. From H.P. Zinker to Bunnybrains to Yo la Tengo to Laura Cantrell, Matador has always provided the wax through the years. For that, I am grateful.
As always, “Matador: We go to the Mat for the bands you adore.” Amen.

i occasionally make light of the notion that we actually give a hoot about the people who buy our records, but thanks for the kind words. Thanks for supporting our bands and sticking with the format that’s still the most fun.
