Condo Fucks – Straight Outta Connecticut
March 9th, 2009 at 9:00 am by GabeMany years ago, in a town called New London, in Connecticut, one band reigned supreme.
Condo Fucks.
Here is their story, the story of a scene, of dreams fulfilled and those unrealized.
Georgia Condo. Kid Condo. James McNew.
Condo Fucks’ “Fuckbook” is out March 24th. Buy it here.

Wow, that’s a real piece of history. The photo of Monsterland at the Night Shift is like art, or something.

What color vinyl is that copy of “For Squatters Only”?
(Thurston Jr. rockumentary casting is pretty brilliant too.)

Will the vinyl come with digital download? (Since it’s all covers?)

No download card. The Condo Fucks HATE the internets! (and it’s a covers record.)

A cinematic gem reminiscent of Fellini in his heyday. Just one complaint: After several viewings I\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\’ve discerned definite Massachusetts influences in the Condo Fucks\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\’ music. Why the cover-up? Are you being bankrolled with Connecticut money? Death to Nutmegs!

Then why did I just buy the vinyl version since I want to listen to it on my computer and in my car?
Oh that’s right! … BECAUSE THERE WAS A STICKER ON THE FRONT OF THE VINYL SAYING “ALSO INCLUDES FREE DOWNLOAD OF ALBUM” *AND* A DOWNLOAD CARD INSIDE!!!
Guess you tricked me. har,har,har!
Obviously this was a mistake by matador and I expect this post to be deleted.

I’m with FridayMike. I bought the LP thinking I’d get the free download as well (the sticker said so, right?) but I only got the “sorry, it’s a covers album” doc. I guess what I don’t understand is why it’s legal to sell the album but somehow dangerous to provide a free download to those who paid for the album.

the problem is that we’re obliged to pay the composers and publisher — which we’re already doing once with the LP/CD $$$. If it were an album of Condo Fucks originals, the CF’s or their publisher could waive the mechanical royalties for the free MP3 download. We cannot, however, just decide for ourselves we’re not going to pay 3rd party composers or publishers. We had the same problem with Cat Power’s ‘Jukebox’. In order to provide a free download for LP buyers, we’d have to raise the price of the record considerably.
