Click on the images for information, except for the last one about which there is very little online… killer afrobeat from NIgeria, great organ, I think about 1970 or 1971.

Stopped by a few stores in the Williamsburg/Greenpoint area and all seemed to be fairly busy. I couldn’t find the one RSD exclusive that i was trying to track down, The Magnolia Electric Company 7″ on Secretly Canadian, so I picked up a few reissues. Two 13th Floor Elevator LPs – The Psychedelic Sounds Of… and Easter Everywhere along with Davie Allan & the Arrows – Devil’s Rumble: Anthology ’64-’68. Picked these up at Permanent in Brooklyn, where they happened to be the first 3 records in the bins, and 2 out of 3 (not sure about Easter Everywhere yet) are mono.

Foist edition of Berg’s The Physics of Sound – wait, that was a book. $2 on the street, Fort Greene style. As for RSD, I go almost every other day to a store – why go on record store day? I mean, that has to be the worst day of the year to go to a record store. However, I did my now traditional anti-RSD thing and made sure some stuff I was selling on eBay ended this weekend. Diggin’ For Gold Volume 7 for example – $58! It isn’t quite the smug “indie” (meaning highly dependent) tastemaker level robbery prices but still. The internet is trying.
See you on Record Label Day!
