This is WFMU’s third year broadcasting from Barcelona’s Primavera Sound festival, and I daresay they’re really getting the hang of it. This year two of Matador’s finest will be featured on WFMU’s Primavera broadcasts. Tune in tonight at 7:00PM EDT to hear Interpol, and tomorrow at 5:45PM EDT for Kurt Vile & The Violators.
WFMU’s predictably stellar Primavera broadcast schedule can be found here. Listening can be accomplished at 91.1FM in the New York City area, 90.1FM in the Hudson Valley, and online at wfmu.org.
The somewhat unimaginative (but guaranteed to sell out) Reading and Leeds festivals just got a lot better with the addition of Cold Cave and Fucked Up for the end of summer UK weekend festival.
Fucked Up play the NME/Radio 1 tent (Leeds – Friday, Reading – Sunday), whilst Cold Cave play the dance tent (Reading – Friday, Leeds – Saturday) . Interpol were announced previously and play way up the bill on the main stage (Leeds – Friday, Reading – Sunday).
For a full line-up and tickets head to the Reading or Leeds official websites.
All bands have extensive tours ahead of this, click to check the upcoming tour dates of Cold Cave, Fucked Up and Interpol.
As announced on the official Coachella page, stage times are out now for all bands playing this weekends festival and you’ll find Matador and True Panther bands well represented, without any clashes (…hopefully) too!
Surrounded as we are by an ever-increasing number of cameras in our daily lives, we begin to lose ownership of our own images. Anonymous technology is analyzing, categorizing and archiving our very existence.
Interpol, in collaboration with David Lynch, Andi Watson, HPX and Wieden & Kennedy present a visual juxtaposition of the seen and the unseen. As the observer becomes the observed, the performance explores the deepening layers of covert surveillance, morphing data acquisition into visual beauty and questioning the fine line between the viewer and the voyeur.
Featuring the premiere of the David Lynch animation “I Touch A Red Button Man” for the song “Lights”, and utilizing real-time visual manipulation from Seattle-based HPX, the performance will be streamed live to the internet as well as to the audience at Coachella.
Interpol are releasing a Limited Edition 12” Vinyl-only Remix EP on April 16th as a celebration of Record Store Day in Europe. The release features remixes of “Try It On” by Salem, Ikonika and Banjo or Freakout – To give you a taste of what is to come the band thought they would offer up the Salem remix from the 12″.
The Remix EP will receive a North American release in the later part of the summer after the band’s upcoming tour dates. Below is a reminder of the shows and link to the band’s website where you can purchase tickets.
Also! If you are heading to Coachella this weekend, don’t miss the Interpol performance. They’ve been brewing something up with the Creators Project…

In announcing more details about their 2011 incarnation, The Creators Project have revealed an exciting partnership with Interpol to commence officially at this year’s Coachella festival in April. Details are scant, but the partnership promises “a new visual experience to match (the band’s) live set” and, given Interpol’s historically epic live productions, it’s safe to assume this is going to be something special.
As the centerpiece of their announcement, the Creators Project debuted the short film “Interpol on Interpol“, an unprecedented look at the band’s history and creative process, with special emphasis on last year’s fantastic self-titled album (buy the album here). Take a look:

One day after kicking off their next leg of North American touring on behalf of their self-titled 4th album, Interpol will make their first appearance on Conan O’Brien’s new TBS program — the inventively dubbed “Conan” (hey, great minds think alike) — on Thursday, February 3, performing “Lights”. Since it’s a bit early to be setting your DVR, expect a few reminders from us between now and then.
Though the above poster is not entirely accurate, we can finally confirm (ie. after everyone else has already reported it) the following members of the Matador / True Panther Sounds family will be appearing at The 12th Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival this coming April 15-17
Interpol
The New Pornographers
Cold Cave
Delorean
Glasser
As for the rest of the bill, well, we all have our favorites, but I’d like to issue a deep personal thank-you to the organizers for NOT BOOKINGTHESE DUDES.
If for some reason you don’t catch Interpol on their upcoming North American Tour, kicking off next Thursday, we’re happy to announce that the band will be back on the road this Spring.

‘Interpol’ is available for preorders from the Matador Store . In additional to the venerable compact disc format (deluxe version available from us or from participating independent retailers across North America includes a poster), the album will be available in two different LP versions ; an economy-priced single LP at $13.00, and an 120 gram double vinyl edition (two 45 RPM 12″”s with large holes) at $19.00 (much like the deluxe CD, the double 12″ version will only be available from the Matador Store or from our friends at independent record shops). Matador Store preorders will receive a specially designed Interpol 45rpm adapter. A limited number (ie. one per day) of signed Shepard Fairey screenprinted portraits of Paul Banks, Daniel Kessler and Sam Fogarino are being given away as part of the preorder.
As you might’ve seen reported elsewhere, Interpol recently announced a September release date for their long-awaited, eponymous 4th album, the badly kept-secret portion of said scoop being that Matador would once again, be the band’s record label in North America after a one album stopover at Capitol Records. We’ll have more details soon about the different configurations available, pre-order info, etc. but can reveal the Alan Moulder-mixed ‘Interpol’ (CD/LP/digital) will be released on September 7, a week earlier than originally reported. Though an MP3 has already been in circulation, today marks the debut of the above video for “Lights”, directed by Charlie White.
In the wake of bassist Carlos D’s departure from the band following the completion of the new album, Paul, Daniel and Sam have augmented Interpol’s touring lineup to included David Pajo (Slint, Papa M, Yeah Yeah Yeahs) on bass and Secret Machines’ Brandon Curtis on keyboards. The new quintet will be on display starting tonight in Pittsburgh, with a number of additional dates just confirmed this morning. Though you can expect to see Interpol playing a ton of other North American cities this Autumn, the smaller club dates below are likely to sell out quickly.
