(above : angry mob reacts to the news that at least two or 3 people didn’t even mention the Total Control 7″)
Around this time every year, your overpaid overworked editor attempts to coax a list of favorite recordings, books, television programs, life events, etc. out of the label’s artist roster and our rock biz colleagues. In the past, the exercise has been an arduous process, fraught with nagging, teeth-gnashing and no shortage of reluctant participants. In more recent times, however, the serial oversharing epidemic that’s run rampant throughout all online activity has infected our bands and staff alike. The rhetorical question, “who fucking asked you?” cannot be applied in this instance, because they were all asked. For some historical perspective, here’s last year’s pile. Questions or comments about our lousy tastes and/or blatant omissions are welcome (but not necessarily appreciated). And away we go!

[edit: In other awesome Ceremony news, we're happy to announce that they'll be playing at NYC's Terminal 5 on April 23 with Refused! All dates below]
Spin Magazine’s recently facelifted online presence is presenting you with the ability to listen to Ceremony‘s forthcoming rager ‘Zoo‘, in it’s entirety — a week before it’s in stores. They call it “feral”, we agree. Check it out over at SPIN and be sure to grab it on March 6 when it hits all the world’s digital & physical retailers.
LISTEN TO ‘ZOO’ at SPIN
Reminder to vinyl fans, if you pick the album up at a indie retailer, your LP might be in limited edition green, while if you grab it at one of Ceremony’s upcoming shows (after the jump), it’ll be blue. It’s also not too late to grab one of the t-shirt + “Adult” 7″ bundles.

We have an old saying around Matador that “if loving Indie Retail is right, well then we don’t want to be bothered”…wait I’m not sure that’s actually the official company line. It’s early, I may have that wrong.
What I do have right though is that The Cave Singers will be in Bellingham, WA today. At one of our favorite indie record shops, Everyday Music, to continue celebrating the release of their new album Welcome Joy. So if you’re in Bellingham today swing by for an early evening jam session that is sure to send you into the weekend on the right note.
Anyone looking for their own copy of Welcome Joy should definitely check out the Matador Store to order a CD or LP!
Friday, August 21st (6pm)
@ Everyday Music (Bellingham, WA)
