Two Iceage Shows In NYC This Weekend

Tomorrow night, May 24th, Iceage will be playing the first of two New York shows at Glasslands with Uniform opening. Tickets here.

Come Sunday, Nothing Changes will present a night at 131 Chrystie St. with special guest, Anasazi. Tickets will not be on sale in advance, $12 at the door, which opens at 10pm.

These shows are on the skirt of a short run of shows that started in LA at the Posh Isolation + (now shuttered) Church on York Danish punk festival, which also had Lower sharing the top of the bill. You can catch them playing double shows in New York next week.

Wednesday, Nothing Changes present: Lower at 131 Chrystie. No advance tickets.

Friday, Lower at The Acheron w/ Dark Blue and La Cruor. Tickets here.

VIDEO : The Weekly Feed In Conversation With Body/Head

The Weekly Feed's Kyle Meredith traveled to Knoxville, TN to chat with Body/Head's Kim Gordon and Bill Nace at The Big Ears Festival. NOTE FOR PEOPLE WHO DON'T ACTUALLY WANT TO WATCH THE INTERVIEW AND NEED AN EASY QUOTE FOR A "NEWS" ITEM : Kim insists Sonic Youth never had "radio hits" (YOU'RE WELCOME!)

Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks - Today On WNYC's "Soundcheck", Last Night On "The Late Show With David Letterman"

Heads up --- the Jicks will be performing this afternoon at 2pm (eastern) on WNYC's "Soundcheck" , which you can hear all over the globe at WNYC.org. In addition, here's Monday night's performance of "Houston Hades", from "The Late Show With David Letterman". And if you're thinking this entire campaign was an awful lot of work just so we could get Letterman to say "jagbag" on TV, well, you're not wrong.

Lee Ranaldo & The Dust - "Blackt Out" Short Film Premiere, European Dates This Month & Next

Lee Ranaldo and the Dust: Blackt Out on Nowness.com

Over the weekend, Nowness premiered the above film directed by Fred Riedel and based on Lee Ranaldo's "Blackt Out" (original studio version found on 2013's 'Last Night On Earth') ; here's Lee's take on the 13 minute short :

The basic concept plays off particular images of the Velvet Underground as filmed by Andy Warhol in the late 60s, casually rehearsing at the Factory, performing (as The Exploding Plastic Inevitable) on St Marks Place with projections and dancers, and even Warhol’s famous 'Screen Tests'. The character of “The Projectionist” is played by legendary NYC avant-garde filmmaker Ken Jacobs (with whom both myself and director Fred Riedel studied back in the 70s). Among the dancers can be spotted former SY drummer Bob Bert. Longtime SY associate, director David Markey, is among those behind the camera on this piece. Shot at Sonic Youth studio Echo Canyon West as well as at live gigs in New York City and Los Angeles.

Lee and the Dust return to Europe next Sunday for the following shows :

May 25 Kortrijk, Belgium - De Kreun
May 26 Antwerpen, Belgium - Trix
May 27 Paris, France La Machine du Moulin Rouge
May 29 Nimes, France - This Is Not A Love Song Fest
May 30 Barcelona Primavera Sound
May 31 Lyon, France- Nuits Sonores Fest
June 1 Padova, Italy - Summer Student Fest (Je t'aime)
June 3 Ravenna, Italy - Beaches Brew
June 4 Bolzano, Italy - Sudwerk
June 5 Schorndorf, Germany - Manufaktur
June 6 Arlon, Belgium - Entrepot
June 7 Porto, Portugal - Primavera Optimus

'Last Night On Earth' is available from the Matador Store on 2XLP, compact disc and digital formats.. You can order the album from iTunes here.

Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks - Tonight On CBS' "The Late Show With David Letterman"

(photo culled from Food Is The New Rock, where you can hear Joanna, Stephen and Mike discussing, y'know, food)

Barring some kind of major miracle (ie. SM knocking out a new album in the next 5 months or Colbert getting cold feet), tonight (Monday, May 19) will most likely mark Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks' final appearance on "The Late Show With David Letterman", an occasion that ranks somewhere between Craig Ferguson's final show and the David Letterman's final appearance on "The Late Show With David Letterman" in terms of historical significance.

We're told the Jicks will be performing "Houston Hades" off 'Wigout At Jagbags', but given the show isn't being taped until later today, reporting this is just a tad premature. LET THE CBS CENSORS DO THEIR JOBS, that's what I always say in these situations. They don't show up at our place of work and tell us which critically acclaimed, commercially underwhelming records to release, nor should we poke around the Ed Sullivan Theater trying to tell them that "kids grow up really fast nowadays" and "the whole world's a fucking sewer besides".

It's all happening at 11:35 eastern time, by the way, or shortly after animal trainer Jack Hanna subdues a brutish creature from either soiling or maiming the host. But enough about Dave's old stalker --- enjoy the show everybody!

Ceremony - July / August Dates

Prior to entering the studio to commence work on the long-anticipated followup to 'Zoo', Ceremony are hitting the road this summer. Though we've got ticket links for several of the shows, there's a few that'll be sales on the door only - best to check with the venues directly. You may or may not thrilled to know Ceremony are now on Twitter,, Facebook and Instagram, but we'll settle for "interested".

VIDEO : Lower - "Bastard Tactics" / Updated Tour Dates

The song itself is concerned with the pursuit of company in night life, and the realization that the way we have come to praise this is not always in vogue with what it really does to people. Loosing your true self and awkwardly resorting to bastard tactics to bring in game, is a universal feeling.
