Courtney Barnett & Kurt Vile : KCRW Session Today, Amoeba Hollywood Instore Thursday 'Sea Lice By The Seaside' Webcast Next Monday,

We're a few days away from the release of Courtney Barnett & Kurt Vile's hotly anticipated collaboration album, 'Lotta Sea Lice' and as you'd expect, they're an insane amount of activity surrounding this momentous event. Thursday, there's a free show at Hollywood's Amoeba Records, who've somehow managed to obtain copies of 'Lotta Sea Lice' one day early. And on Monday afternoon, there's a Pitchfork Live webcast taking place from what's said to be Jimmy Page's former Malibu residence (this seems suspicious as we had it good authority he took his holidays in Cliftwood, NJ...or maybe that was Southside Johnny. Hard to remember sometimes)

Spoon - "I Ain't The One" debut on "The Late Late Show", Rough Trade NYC Listening Party Tonight

This past Thursday night on CBS' "The Late Late Show With James Corden", Spoon debuted "I Ain't The One" from the forthcoming 'Hot Thoughts'. There were also appearances by John Goodman, a sloth and Chris Lombardi, not necessarily in that order, but we are only allowed to share a clip of the Spoon appearance (above).

Tonight at Rough Trade NYC, (64 N. 9th Street), you can pre-order the clear vinyl version of 'Hot Thoughts' and listen to the full album 4 days early in the comfort of the SONOS Listening Room. There's artwork on display by Christine Messersmith, free snacks, and a chance to win other, as yet unspecified prizes (which is not to say the snacks aren't going to be overwhelming)

Tonight At Bowery Ballroom : Yo La Tengo in Salute To Other Music

13450894_1566787810291461_4699389555984515570_n
As you've probably read elsewhere, West 4th Street's much beloved Other Music closed this past weekend after two decades of passionate curation/musical evangelism. Others have done far better than I in eulogizing this store and what it brought to New York City (and beyond) but suffice to say OM played an outsized role in the trajectory of more than a few Matador artists (see above). Consider this a belated thanks to Other Music's staff, ownership and patrons for their respective roles in making the planet a more interesting place.

49-elg

Tonight at Bowery Ballroom, Yo La Tengo --- no strangers to Other Music --- are participating in Other Music Forever, alongside Julianna Barwick, Bill Callahan, Frankie Cosmos, Helado Negro, Menahan Street Band, Psychic Ills, Matana Roberts, The Tallest Man On Earth, Sharon Van Etten, and John Zorn’s SIMULACRUM. Tickets are sold out, however there's still some action on Stubhub as of this writing.

Coming 12/3 : A Lower-Than-Low Priced Compilation LP Of Matador 2013 Highlights

OK, we missed Black Friday by a few days, but if that means ONE LESS TRAMPLING this holiday shopping season, it was totally worth it.  On December 3, we're releasing a limited edition, one-time pressing of a $5.99 list LP , 'It's Been A Business Doing Pleasure With You', featuring 9 songs from (most of) our 2013 releases. In addition to album tracks from Chelsea Light Moving, Majical Cloudz, Body/Head, Lee Ranaldo & The Dust, Iceage and Kurt Vile, there's a live version of Queens of the Stone Age performing "If I Had A Tail" at the 2013 iTunes Festival (Roundhouse, London),  Savages' "City's Full" from last summer's KEXP session, and Yo La Tengo performing "Before We Run" in those same KEXP studios.

We don't have any copies for mail order, sadly, but hopefully you'll find one at your favorite record store after they're done sweeping up all the broken glass, blood, etc. from Black Friday.  If you prefer, you can order a digital version of the comp. right now at the Matador Store.

That's right. You can check out Queens Of The Stone Age's guitar moves with 199 or so other people in a fucking record store in Jersey.

All you have to do is preorder ...Like Clockwork over at Vintage Vinyl starting NOW and get a wristband for entry to the instore (while supplies last). Of course the capacity is EXTREMELY limited to get your asses over there RIGHT FUCKING NOW to get a wristband with your copy of ...Like Clockwork. They probably won't last very long*.

And if you haven't listened to ...Like Clockwork yet, well, what the hell is wrong with you. Stream it NOW.

*They definitely won't last very long.
