Queens of the Stone Age - "Emotion Sickness" on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!"

(photo : ABC/Randy Holmes)

Last night (Thursday, December 14) Queens of the Stone Age performed "Emotion Sickness" from their 2023 album, 'In Times New Roman..' on ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live!"

Saturday the band returns to the Kia Forum for their first Los Angeles appearance since their 2018 headline performance at said venue. Ticketed fans will be treated to Queens Colosseum, an official pre-party hosted by Queens of the Stone Age where guests are encouraged to “dance like no one is surviving.”

Queens Colosseum is located at the Forum’s terrace with food and drinks available. The parking lot party will include performances by local bands DeathbyRomy, Return to Dust and Ramonda Hammer, plus DJ set courtesy of Rock Night Out, carnival games, burlesque performances curated by Kitty Lane and friends from Jumbo’s Clown Room, flash tattoos, tarot reading and specialty goods vendors. Guests are encouraged to bring an item of clothing for screen printing as well. Toys for Tots will be collecting holiday gifts for donation – one lucky participant will win a ticket upgrade for two.

This event starts at 4PM and runs through the start of the show, and is for ticket purchasers only. More information can be found here

Queens of the Stone Age - "Negative Space" (Video)

Purchase / Stream 'In Times New Roman...'

Queens of the Stone Age are back with the latest audiovisual odyssey from their international chart-topping opus 'In Times New Roman…' a brand new video for “Negative Space."  As with previous videos from this campaign, “Negative Space” was created by, starring, and directed by Liam Lynch, who states:

"Acceptance is lonely, messy, and tough, especially when it’s all that is left. This video takes place between the end and a beginning. It’s the desperate and lost, message-in-a-bottle emotions that are tossed out and let float away. No action required."

Prepare to dodge some cosmic debris and take a trip to “Negative Space” here.

In the wake of 'In Times New Roman…' achieving global domination, Queens of the Stone Age kick off the extensive North American leg of their The End Is Nero tour tonight at Detroit’s Michigan Lottery Amphitheatre at Freedom Hill with special guests The Armed and Phantogram. With several shows already sold out, Joshua Homme, Troy Van Leeuwen, Dean Fertita, Michael Shuman and Jon Theodore will continue to span the globe through the end of 2023. Queens of the Stone Age - "Paper Machete"

Pre-order 'In Times New Roman...'

Queens of the Stone Age continue “Giving fans something to look forward to” (Uproxx) with the final advance offering from 'In Times New Roman…' ahead of its highly anticipated eighth album out this Friday, June 16th. This pre-release gift comes in the form of "Paper Machete,” an instantly identifiable  QOTSA future classic, sure to resound with casual fans and die hards alike. Lyrically, “Paper Machete” finds Josh Homme’s trademark rapier wit at its most acerbic. If the previously released "Carnavoyeur” signaled resignation and acceptance, "Paper Machete" is the collision of sheer, raw force that gets you there– “like electricity conveyed through the bristles of a paintbrush” (Wall Street Journal).

For more on the making of In Times New Roman…, tune in to Zane Lowe's in-depth conversation with Josh today at 1pm PT on Apple Music 1.

Earlier this week, QOTSA announced a series of European headline arena shows to The End is Nero tour. The previously announced North American dates are now on-sale, see below for the full routing.

Finally, for fans who just can’t wait until Friday, June 16th:  Don't forget the MIDNIGHT CLUB parties taking place at record shops and pubs across 23 countries.  The MIDNIGHT CLUB starts at 11pm June 15th and will feature giveaways, exclusive merch including limited edition colored vinyl, and—in a few select locations—signed merchandise and ticket giveaways. MIDNIGHT CLUB will provide the QOTSA faithful with a first chance to hear 'In Times New Roman…' in its entirety, amongst friends, family and of course appropriate levels of bacchanalia.

Queens of the Stone Age - "Carnavoyuer" / June 15 MIDNIGHT CLUB

(presave / preorder 'In Times New Roman...')

Still reeling from the ecstatic reaction to the recently released “Emotion Sickness,” a triumphant return that "finds them at their sinister, bar-band-on-acid best” per New York Magazine, Queens of the Stone Age now unveil “Carnavoyeur,” the latest offering from their epic eighth album, 'In Times New Roman…'

In contrast to its predecessor, “Carnavoyeur” finds QOTSA weaving more subtle shades of sinister: Mesmerizing washes of strings cascade atop the band’s trademark rock solid foundation, while Joshua Homme’s mellifluent vocals swaddle the listener with their warm and all too familiar tones of acceptance and resignation: “When there’s nothing I can do, I smile…” While the stunning, honeyed melodies of “Carnavoyeur” are undeniably, well, really pretty, this is still Queens of the Stone Age, and there’s no shortage of viscera-rumbling drums and bass or spine-chilling guitar interplay.

'In Times New Roman…' will be available across all platforms on June 16th via Matador Records. On the eve of release fans are invited to ring in the album’s release at MIDNIGHT CLUB parties taking place at record shops and pubs across 23 countries. The MIDNIGHT CLUB starts at 11pm June 15th and will feature giveaways, exclusive merch including limited edition colored vinyl, and—in a few select locations—signed merchandise and ticket giveaways. MIDNIGHT CLUB will provide the QOTSA faithful with a first chance to hear In Times New Roman… in its entirety, amongst friends, family and of course appropriate levels of bacchanalia.

Coming June 16 : Queens of the Stone Age - 'In Times New Roman...'

(Production by Worldfare, Directed by Tony Wolski)

(presave / preorder 'In Times New Roman...')
(stream / download "Emotion Sickness")

Queens of the Stone Age have announced their long-awaited 8th studio album, 'In Times New Roman…' out June 16th on Matador.

'In Times New Roman..'. is raw, at times brutal and not recommended for the faint of heart. And yet, it’s perhaps the most beautiful and definitely the most rewarding album in their epic discography. Founder Joshua Homme's most acerbic lyrics to date are buoyed by the instantly identifiable QOTSA sonic signature, expanded and embellished with new and unprecedented twists in virtually every song. With 'In Times New Roman…' we see that sometimes one needs to look beneath scars and scabs to see beauty, and sometimes the scabs and scars are the beauty.

Feeling a bit out of place, and having difficulty finding music they could relate to, the members of QOTSA did as they are wont to do: In Times New Roman… is the sound of a band creating the music its own members
want to hear, while giving the rest of us a sonic forum in which to congregate. “The world’s gonna end in a month or two," sings Homme, begging the question: What do you want to do with the time you’ve got left?
Homme, Troy Van Leeuwen, Dean Fertita, Michael Shuman and Jon Theodore may not be able to save us, but they’re giving us a place to ride it out.

The first offering from 'In Times New Roman…' is “Emotion Sickness,” which wraps listeners in a warm blanket of patented QOTSA hypnotic choruses and off kilter grooves—punctuated by tinges of psychic
turbulence. The past few years have been tough on everyone, and it’s no secret the members of QOTSA have endured their share of heartbreak and loss. But who amongst us hasn’t dealt with a recent bout (or two) of
emotion sickness? A Liam Lynch video for "Emotion Sickness” premieres tomorrow on QOTSA’s YouTube channel.

'In Times New Roman…' was recorded and mixed at Homme’s own Pink Duck (RIP), with additional recording at Shangri-La. The album was produced by Queens of the Stone Age and mixed by Mark Rankin. The album
will be available across all digital platforms and on vinyl and CD on June 16th. Artwork and double LP gatefold packaging designed by long time collaborator Boneface. LP vinyl will be available globally in black, green, red, silver and blue. All formats are available for pre-order here. The track list is as follows:

Obscenery
Paper Machete
Negative Space
Time & Place
Made to Parade
Carnavoyeur
What the Peephole Say
Sicily
Emotion Sickness
Straight Jacket Fitting

Colored vinyl available at the QOTSA / Matador Webstores and at record shops everywhere.

More than a quarter century since its primal emergence from the Desert, Queens Of The Stone Age has elected to give three of its landmark albums the upscale re-release treatment, including limited edition color vinyl pressings, exclusive new and restored artwork, and more.

First up is the one that started it all: Back in print after a long, long decade, Queens Of The Stone Age’s self-titled 1998 debut album will be resurrected digitally September 22, with a vinyl release date of October 21. Restored to its original track listing and adorned by the long out-of-print original Frank Kozik artwork, the soon to be definitive version of QOTSA’s self-titled ground zero will feature an obi-strip designed by longtime collaborator Boneface and will be available on standard black and limited edition opaque orange vinyl — both available direct from Queens Of The Stone Age, Matador Records, and at discerning independent retailers.

Following on December 9 will be a double shot of Queens Of The Stone Age’s most recent efforts: 2013’s multiple-GRAMMY-nominated, Billboard 200 #1 charting magnum opus …Like Clockwork and 2017’s redefining Villains will both be reincarnated: …Like Clockwork returns newly recut from its original master tapes with alternate artwork and obi-strip from Boneface with a limited opaque aqua vinyl pressing available direct from Queens Of The Stone Age, Matador Records, and a limited opaque red vinyl pressing available at finer independent retailers. Out Today : Desert Sessions - 'Vols. 11 & 12', "Crucifire" Video

(directed by Anthony Francisco Schepperd)

Ending a 16-year hiatus since its last installment, the most mythical, longest running rock n roll mixtape odyssey in existence, Desert Sessions has finally returned: The most ambitious entries yet in its expansive and elusive catalog: 'Vols. 11 & 12' (a/k/a respectively as ?'Arrivederci Despair?' and 'Tightwads & Nitwits & Critics & Heels?') are now available on LP, CD and via all streaming services.

Highlights of the eight-song two-session collection include the creeping slowburn boogie of “Move Together” with its sublime Billy Gibbons (ZZ Top) vocal, the propulsive rocker “Crucifire” fueled by an incendiary vocal performance from Mike Kerr (Royal Blood), the self-explanatory “Chic Tweetz” featuring the enigmatic Töôrnst Hülpft, and the lush melodies of grand finale "Easier Said Than Done” featuring a showstopping vocal from ringleader Joshua Homme (Queens of the Stone Age).

Desert Sessions 'Vols. 11 & 12'also arrive in a limited edition first vinyl pressing including a one of a kind custom mix & match body swap booklet. Exclusive merchandise bundles are available now.

'Vols. 11 & 12' were recorded (mostly) in December 2018 at Rancho De La Luna studios in Joshua Tree, CA, with Queens of the Stone Age founder and Desert Sessions ringleader/producer Joshua Homme enlisting a cast of players including:

Billy Gibbons (ZZ Top)
Stella Mozgawa (Warpaint)
Jake Shears (Scissor Sisters)
Mike Kerr (Royal Blood)
Carla Azar (Autolux, Jack White)
Les Claypool (Primus)
Matt Sweeney (Chavez, Superwolf, Endless Boogie)
Matt Berry (What We Do in the Shadows, Toast of London)
Libby Grace
Töôrnst Hülpft

The resulting eight songs embody the legacy of freedom from expectations and inhibitions that stretches back to 1997, when Homme led a first retreat to the Joshua Tree desert. What began as a casual writing and recording session amongst friends—isolated from daily distractions and comforts—has since become a possibly infinite body of work. Now spanning 12 volumes over the course of two decades (and a total of two documented live performances), The Desert Sessions has featured some of music’s most cherished icons—past players have included Polly Harvey, Mark Lanegan, Josh Freese, Dean Ween, among many others—deliberately removing themselves from their comfort zones and working together to create some of their most relaxed yet challenging work.

The tracklist for Desert Sessions 'Vols. 11 & 12' (a/k/a ?'Arrivederci Despair'? and ?'Tightwads & Nitwits & Critics & Heels')? is:
Move Together (lead vocal: Billy F. Gibbons)
Noses in Roses Forever (lead vocal: Joshua Homme)
Far East for the Trees
If You Run (lead vocal: Libby Grace)
Crucifire (lead vocal: Mike Kerr)
Chic Tweetz (vocals: Töôrnst Hülpft, Matt Berry)
Something You Can’t See (lead vocal: Jake Shears)
Easier Said Than Done (lead vocal: Joshua Homme)

VIDEO : Queens of the Stone Age - "The Way You Used To Do" (acoustic, Museum of New and Old Art, Tasmania)

At last week's close of Queens of the Stone Age's massive, 129 date world tour in support of 'Villains', fans in Tasmania were treated to an intimate one-off acoustic set at MONA (Museum of Old and New Art) in Hobart  – a benefit that  generated $10,000 matched by QOTSA’s Joshua Homme’s own Sweet Stuff Foundation for a total of $20,000 to support the Royal Hobart Hospital Paediatrics Ward. The band visited the hospital the following day, presenting the donation to the hospital and gifts to its patients.  Above - the band performing  "The Way You Used To Do".
